The Internet

The internet has something for everyone. Even for you for those who need help to finance their college education. In the internet, there are sites that offer college scholarships. These sites are either your local government, College or University itself, some non-government institutions, or a collective people who gathers finances to help someone like you. The internet also has some helpful articles to make your college scholarship application easier and make the scholarship grant closer to your hand.

The High School Academic Guidance Counselor

Before the end of the school term, most colleges and universities contact or go to high both public and private schools to offer scholarships for graduating students. Usually, the academic guidance counselor takes hold of the application forms. All you have to do is to approach the office and ask for scholarship forms.

Colleges and Universities

If you excel in athletics, academics, art, and stage, colleges and universities give you special scholarships. Inquiring for this would be a good way to start. Most of the times though, these types of college scholarships are either automatically given to a certain students or selected through a roster of students.

Or, if you are not that athletic or not that excellent in academics, colleges and universities provide financial aids. These aids will slash off some percentage of the total price you have to pay for the year. Both the financial aid and scholarship will continue provided that you can maintain a certain average.

The Local Government

One of the best college scholarship grants that are both reliable and efficient is from the local government. Since local governments allocate funds for financing a certain number of students in a year, it is almost assured that you get one of the slots. Added to this, a government scholar has the privilege to immediately land a job after graduation. And this usually comes with the scholarship contract.

Institutions and Corporations

There are institutions and corporations that offer scholarships for students with both academic skills and financial problems. Look into this. Search of institutions and corporations that offer scholarships you can apply for.

What is the best college major for starting my own bakery or specialty pastry shop?
I love to bake and would like to attend a culinary institute. I know it would also be helpful to have a college degree in something else to start my own shop but what would be the best degree. Also is it possible to attend a four year college and culinary institute at the same time?

    Try fastweb.com.

There are scholarships for everyone, but if you put down that you are Hispanic in your profile, then Hispanic-only will ALSO display in your results. (You will also get scholarships that are open to any of the characterics in your profile.)

This site also has job opportunities.

I always think "Goolgle" is for education, no matter what. "Yahoo" is more entertainment, but my computer instructor use yahoo. I think start with both then go on with the other. Money talks, let you fingers running; your eyes search for the best.

Check out Federal Student Aid Web Site or FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

I suggest you explore all federal funding and grant options at the Federal Student Aid website http://federalstudentaid.ed.gov/

You may also want to read the Handbook of the Pell Grant — this is an 86 page document that contains everything about the grant
    http://ifap.ed.gov/sfahandbooks/attachments/0203Vo3MasterFile.pdf

Or you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/gtepfpg.pdf at 1-800-433-3243 and ask them if there are any programs for your daughter

Aside from FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov and Pell Grant http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/index.html , you may want to explore private foundation grants

    Also check out Fastweb http://www.fastweb.com

For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It's a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) and their opening blurb says that the database is ideal for "students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." You may be able to find grants from private foundations.

Start looking your Junior your of high school. This way you have time to look over all the different kinds and see what all is out there. There are thousands of scholarships and some require you to look a little harder to find them. Then collect all the ones that you can apply for and look to see when there deadlines for application are. Then begin applying as soon as you can to try and get the scholarship for your Freshman year of college. If you know what area you want to study there are scholarships for people who just study biology or history, chemistry the list is endless. You just have to look for them. Also if you know where you want to go to college call and talk to someone in their financial aid office. They should be able to direct you to some good websites and so on for scholarships. Good Luck.

PS Watch out for online scholarship websites some are not the real thing and are used only to get personal information or try and get money out of you. So be careful! Also as a rule you should never have to pay anything when applying for a scholarship. So if a group asks you to pay a processing fee or something to process your application watch out they probably are just trying to take your money.
